Returning home to Taranaki was definitely a good move for Claudia. For someone who enjoys living in the country and progressing her legal career, Taranaki is the place to be. After graduating with degrees in law and social science, Claudia worked in Auckland as a corporate tax consultant with one of the top four accounting firms. Claudia joined DKL in March 2008 and became a director of the firm in April 2010. She took over the Managing Director role in April 2011. Along with a solid grounding in tax law, Claudia brings a dash of colour and youthful flair to DKL. Claudia has experience in a broad range of commercial law matters and her expertise includes commercial transactions, tax, intellectual property, employment law and retirement villages law. Claudia enjoys the ambience of the smaller office in New Plymouth and working closely with her clients and the DKL team. Outside of the office Claudia is a volunteer solicitor at Citizens Advice Bureau and is involved in Toastmasters and Law Alliance NZ. Claudia also enjoys riding her horse and keeping fit by running and going to the gym. Claudia is married to Brent Youngson and their daughter Carolina keeps her busy when away from the office.
“Claudia King has worked on a number of different transactions for our company, including the complex sale of our business. The advice she provided in relation to these transactions was well researched and easy for us to understand. Claudia always ensures our interests are adequately protected and she works hard to ensure the tight deadlines we set are met. Claudia also keeps us regularly informed of progress and issues that arise throughout our transactions.”
Steve & Michelle Gallichan, Directors of MIST Corporation Limited (formerly Pipes NZ Limited)
